Axolotls

Axolotls are neat little salamanders that don't metamorphosize to reach adulthood! So, instead of transforming into land-dwelling adults like most salamanders, axolotls stay fully aquatic for their whole lives, which is why they keep their cute external gills! This trait isn't totally unique to axolotls, but it's definitely unusual for amphibians. Fun fact: axolotls have the ability to regenerate parts of their body, including limbs, gills, and even parts of their eyes and brains!
