5/29/2025: Welcome to Liquid Sunshine!

Hello! Welcome to my blog! Here, I'll talk about my art projects and my interests. You'll see all kinds of stuff here, from video games to webcomics to music! I will try to update this every month or so, but I might forget if I get busy. I'm not really a blog person anyway, but my family and friends are probably pretty tired of me dumping a bunch of Splatoon lore on them when they don't even play the game, so having a spot to yap will probably be beneficial to some degree. But don't expect any sense of organization to any of this because I'm just gonna talk about whatever I want in these. Wow so exciting!

6/11/2025: Just Finished Listening to The Magnus Archives (spoilers)

Hover over the text to see what it says! Don't look if you don't want to be spoiled!

orgdsnfasizrgjpeirdsgnvad WHAT WAS THAT. I'm serious what was that. I am in tears. I am crying screaming throwing up. Jayvik your days are numbered you had better run because are you kidding me. Are you kidding me. Is Jonny Sims trying to shred my heart into pieces because I genuinely really do think he is. What the frickity frack was that. That is so absolutely heartbreaking. AND THE MOTHER OF PUPPETS! OF COURSE IT WAS THE WEB ALL ALONG. We all underestimated Annabelle Cane and thought she was just another avatar and look at us now. Silly. Stupid. Didn't notice all the foreshadowing that was practically shoved into our face. Like even the dang Jane Prentiss incident was because of the Spider. Because the hole in the wall that released all the worms early was only made because Jon knocked over a bookcase because he was trying to swat at a S P I D E R that was on it. Are you kidding me. You must be joking. This is insane. I hate everything I am going to go sob violently for 10 hours.

6/14/2025: Splatoon Raiders

So last Tuesday morning, Nintendo randomly announced Splatoon Raiders, a Splatoon spin-off that seems to be focused on Deep Cut. This is very exciting news! I'm really glad that Deep Cut is finally getting the spotlight since they basically got ignored in Splatoon 3 despite Splatoon 3 being their game. It'll be really cool to see how Nintendo makes Splatoon Raiders stand out from the rest of the franchise. Stylistically, it looks wonderful - the graphics are very crisp, and it definitely maintains the Splatoon vibe. I really like Deep Cut's outfit/hairstyle change in the second part of the trailer (although I wonder why Big Man changed color), and the player Inkling's makeshift gear and clothing is really neat! I wonder if they live on the island featured in the game? We get a scene of Shiver fishing - maybe it's an open-world, survival-esque game? You probably do a lot of scavenging, given the way Deep Cut and the player character are dressed, and the fact that the game has "raider" in the name. I wonder if we'll get lots of neat scavenger-themed clothing? That would be really cool. I wonder if we'll be making things, like that weird steampunk-looking machine we saw in the trailer that followed the player around? The music played in the trailer was really fun, too, and if there's one thing I trust the Splatoon team with, it's music. What was that eye that opened at the end of the trailer, too? Was it a giant squid? That would be a cool arc. I wonder if Team Past has anything to do with this game - it seems to have a story focus; and surviving alone on an island, isolated from modern society, does give me "past" vibes. And clearly the "what would you bring to a deserted island" splatfest from early in Splatoon 3's lifespan had an impact on the game - there's a video about that here. Anyway, yeah, really excited about this game! I don't have Switch 2, but maybe I'll get it for my birthday or Christmas or something so I can play Splatoon Raiders when it comes out!

7/13/2025: Writing Game Reviews for HOUDINI Magazine

HOUDINI magazine is an indie, underground magazine that covers topics such as art, culture, and politics. They do a lot of really cool stuff with the platform, including sharing the work of independent artists. They recently wrote an article about how they need people to volunteer to write for them. So I emailed them and said, "oh, yep, that sounds cool" and long story short, now I'm writing game reviews! Which is really cool because a) the games that I have to play to review look pretty awesome overall and b) I'll be analyzing gameplay systems, mechanics, UI functioning - the whole shabang. Which will be really helpful for learning game design myself! Of course I already play plenty of games, but this time I'll have to be very aware of the systems that make the games tick. So, all in all, very cool oppurtunity! I'm very excited! I'll be writing two (maybe three) reviews a month, all of which you can view on HOUDINI magazine! So keep an eye out if you like reviews of classic-arcade style indie games!

7/23/2025: Hollow Knight (spoilers)

Recently I've been replaying Hollow Knight. Or, well, not quite replaying. The first time I played the game I didn't beat it, I only made it to the Soul Sanctum before I stopped because I was playing on a TV screen and it was too hard to see, as the game has a really dark color pallette. I got it on Switch and replayed up to where I had been and it was a lot easier the second time around, which makes sense. I'm nearsighted so I prefer handheld consoles and PC games as opposed to stuff you have to play on the couch. I have glasses but I still don't like playing games from far away. Anyway I didn't run into any difficulties and was having a pretty good time until I got to the Watcher fight and that fight KICKED MY BUTT. I didn't even discover that you could drop a chandelier on one of the Watchers until I had lost that fight at least 20 times. It took me 2 whole weeks to beat that boss. I cannot tell you how much joy flooded my heart when I finally won. Anyway now I'm fighting the Hollow Knight. Mr. Big Boss. I think he's the final boss but I'm not sure. Like I said I've never beat the game before. But I gave up because I wanted to rescue all the grubs first. So that's what I've been doing recently. Also I'm really sad that Quirrel died I liked Quirrel he was my favorite. Anyway that's all Hollow Knights an awesome game I just suck at it.

7/31/2025: Splatoon Webring, Monster Hunter Stories, Death Stranding 2, and Other Random Stuff

So the Splatoon Webring now has five whole members (not counting me) which is very exciting! It has been so fun running this webring and getting to look at everyone's websites! But my favorite part is how the people who join modify the Splatoon Webring link. fh102 has put it in a font that matches the rest of their website, while the Kelzone and Cuboid World have added their own Splatoon gifs to it! It's just so nice to see people care enough to put the effort in to make their version of the webring unique. It makes me happy. (* ^ ω ^) Also I realized one of my favorite websites, Cuboid World, runs a Monster Hunter Webring and that reminded me of how much I loved Monster Hunter Stories 1 when I was a kid so now I think I'm going to join that webring and make a Monster Hunter shrine so yippee more shrines! I've also been considering starting an In Stars and Time webring but I'm unsure if there's enough ISAT sites on Neocities for that. Also I just started playing Death Stranding 2 and ( : ౦ ‸ ౦ : ) I'm not going to spoil anything right now but jesus christ. It's really fun so far though and the story is shaping up to be just as good as if not better than Death Stranding 1's so! Exciting times yes yes! Anyway school's gonna be starting up again soon and I'll be taking my first game design and development class so YIPPEE!!! ヽ(o^▽^o)ノ
